Welcome David; Farewell Leah and Sam. Plus: Joseph is Back

Welcome Coach David

David Alcazar decided to win nationals when he was 13 years old.

He rose steadily throughout his career, tirelessly improving until he was one of the top competitors in the country. With a long streak of dominant performances, many people thought that 2020 would be David’s year. History had other plans. The national tournament was cancelled by the pandemic, and debaters across the country were forced to improvise.

David didn’t slow down. He spent his quarantine researching, analyzing, practicing, and refining. Then he roared into the 2021 tournament with one of the strongest performances ever delivered on a national stage: winning the Team Policy and Parliamentary final rounds with a combined judge split of 19-3.

David is patient, relentless, and optimistic. His grasp of debate strategy is ironclad. We’re excited to welcome him to the Ace Peak team so he can help you tell your own incredible story.

Farewell Leah and Sam

As of the end of the 2021 season, Leah and Sam have retired from coaching speech and debate. We’re grateful for everything they shared with this community and we know their students will miss them. We wish them nothing but the best in the next phase of their lives.
