Announcing 16 Online Summer Camps

This year, we’re excited to offer a range of online summer camps. They all have short, intense schedules that are built from the ground up to take advantage of the online format. Expect innovative lectures, challenging roundtable discussions, and wacky drills that push you to a new level of speaking. And since the internet is cheaper than a physical venue, these camps are more affordable than ever.

Campers join the Ace Peak Society

The Ace Peak Society was previously open only to Ace Peak coaching students. Now, attending any Ace Peak camp will give you membership in APS for the entire 2020-2021 season.

Register Early

Register early to save money, as follows:

  • Super Early Bird: $80. Open now – don’t wait to sign up.

  • Early Bird: $100. Starts roughly 6 weeks before the camp begins.

  • Regular: $120. Starts roughly 4 weeks before the camp begins.

Single-day camps cost half as much: $40 / $50 / $60.

Camp registration closes 1 week before the camp begins.

All debate camps contain at least two practice rounds/drills. Each student/team will need to provide an adult to help us with at least one of these rounds/drills.

16 Camps? How do I pick one?

You don’t have to. We designed our summer schedule so that you can attend as many camps as you like. Each one is different, and you’ll get the most out of your summer training if you select a series of camps that are tailored to your needs.

You’ll also save on cost. Students receive 20% off their second camp, 30% off their third camp, 40% off their fourth camp, and 50% off their fifth camp.

Regional Camps

Regional camps are for students in a specific area. They are all 2 days, 10am-6pm CST.

Regional Camps are created specifically for regions that we have a strong relationship with from past seasons. That said, registration is open to anyone. You don’t have to be Texan to attend Camp Lone Star; just expect to be treated like one.

We will create the schedule/add tracks for those who enroll.

  • July 24-25 Camp South. For debate students in the Southern US.

  • July 29-30 Camp Pacific. For debate students on the West Coast.

  • August 3-4 Camp Capitol. For LD debate students in D.C. and Virginia.

Those who attend regional camps are welcome to attend our national camps as well.

National Camps

National camps are open to anyone. National Camps are taught at three levels: Foundation, Varsity, and Mastery.

Foundation Camps

Foundation camps cover the fundamentals of debate, assuming little to no previous knowledge. They’re perfect for novices and less-experienced students who want to brush up or get more practice.

All attendees receive a free affirmative case and negative case/brief before the camp starts.

  • July 31-August 1: National Debate Foundation. Everything you need to know to win your first debate round, with an emphasis on unified debate theory. Stoa and NCFCA resolutions are covered.

  • August 5-6: National Speech Foundation. Everything you need to know to win your first speech round.

Varsity Camps

Experienced camps assume that you have attended at least one of our previous camps. While most attendees will have at least year of competitive experience, ambitious novices are invited to attend after completing basic camp.

All attendees receive a free affirmative case and negative case/brief before the camp starts.

  • August 5-6: National Speech Varsity. High-level training in all speech categories with an emphasis on preparation for the first tournament of the year.

  • August 7-8: National Parliamentary Varsity. High-level training with an emphasis on winning before you enter the room.

  • August 10-11: National Debate Varsity. High-level training with an emphasis on gaining logical and strategic dominance. Stoa and NCFCA resolutions are covered.

Mastery Camps

Mastery camps are for advanced students. They go in-depth on a single topic. Mastery camps are designed to be very challenging; only attend if you’re ready to work hard and test your limits.

At physical camps, we have a limited amount of time to cover topics that will be useful to a wide range of experience levels in a specific geographic area. Physical mastery camps don’t make sense. Online, we can collect a handful of advanced students from all over the country for a topical deep dive. That means mastery camps are made possible by the online format.

  • August 3-4: Interp Mastery. Story structure, character analysis, and advanced acting to create championship-level interp pieces.

  • August 12 and August 13: Debate Topic Mastery. In-depth analysis of the Stoa and NCFCA resolution, with an emphasis on predicting, building, and refuting this year’s dominant case patterns. Stoa and NCFCA resolutions are covered in separate single-day camps.

  • August 14-15: Cross-Examination Mastery. Rigorous cross-examination drills and lectures, with an emphasis on outmaneuvering the opponent.

  • August 17: Rhetoric Mastery. Professional-grade strategic and persuasive tactics, with an emphasis on analyzing and adapting to your audience.

  • August 18: Extemp Mastery. News analysis and speech writing, with an emphasis on standing apart from the pack in outrounds.

  • August 19-20: Persona Mastery. Introducing a whole new version of the Persona Diamond with 18 specific personas and corresponding shadow personas. This is our most difficult camp of the year. It has the potential to radically improve your speaker point average.

  • August 21-22: Paladin Mastery Camp. We're not announcing details on this, but it's the one we're most excited to do. Stay tuned.
