It's Here: The Ace Peak Society
We’re happy to announce that we’ve created a way for Ace Peak students to connect with each other: The Ace Peak Society. Alongside other Ace Peak students, you can share research, collaborate on case strategies, and find opponents for practice rounds instantly.
We’ve done this by creating a Facebook group that will be open exclusively to our students and their parents. Since many of you are already on social media, it’s an easy and effective platform to use for the Ace Peak Society. However, social media is still a part of the big world that it is the internet, so let’s offer a preface before we continue.
We Put Parents First
If you don’t have a Facebook account, talk to your parents about making one before you do. They have three times your life experience and are going to make the best decision for you. If you already have a Facebook account, talk to your mom or dad about joining the group so that we can add them alongside you.
We always want parents to be a part of the learning process. Having them on board is going to be awesome.
Iron Sharpens Iron
Having a Facebook group for you guys presents a lot of exciting opportunities. For example, we could potentially use the group to form round robins for practice (setting up a mini online tournament and having parents judge rounds from Skype).
Ace Peak students can help each other develop application responses, share policy research, collaborate on briefs, and more. The more integrated you guys are, the stronger you’ll become.
The Rules
We expect ethical excellence out of all of you. Beyond that, here are a few rules of The Ace Peak Society.
Be Kind and Courteous. We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
No Over-Posting or Spam. Give more than you take to this group. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links aren't allowed.
Save Coaching Questions for Sessions. This group designed to get Ace Peak students talking with each other. If you have coaching questions for Joseph or Drew, save those for our next session!
No Political Venting. Don't use this group to share your political beliefs. This is designed for helping your fellow students become better debaters, so use political commentary appropriately.
